Bristol may be best known for its contributions to the bass music continuum, but the most well-attended parties most assuredly feature house and techno. Futureboogie is just one of the promoters pushing that sound in the city, along with compatriot Julio Bashmore. On the label's second release Bashmore turns up for a remix—he offered an original production on the debut bow—in which he softens Christophe's persistent melody with gentle, tinkling piano. It's a far cry from his bass-heavy concoctions for Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird label, but clearly Bashmore has plenty of tricks up his technicolored sleeves.
Christophe's original may just be the pick here either way. Once you get past the intro, it's funky sailing with a little cowbell and a whole lot of bounce. DJs would beware, though, you're best served jumping into that break, unless you want to mix your next track straight into that winding melody. Lukas plays around with the drum programming a bit, but doesn't bother tweaking the melody that much—if at all. And PBR Streetgang gives it more oomph, but similarly shies away from the riff as well. When it ain't broke...
