- Before we begin, do not make the mistake of overlooking this original track as it does not, in any way, fall under the shadow of the following remix that Harry Lemon has provided.
Side A - Origional Mix
To get right to the point, this production by Nugen is just pure class. ‘Braaj’ spends a few moments warming up to the cracking bassline that will surely get you bouncing. Similar to the way that Decepticons Eastern Promise does, having that same amazing deep tribal feel. The massive power of the bassline in this original mix is perfect as it slides you along with the music. And then the massive breakdown hits and the immense bassline slams back even stronger than before. It is guaranteed to get the toughest of dance-floors moving. It’s one damn big tune!
Side B1 – Lemon 8 Remix
With an original as solid as this one it would really take a producer with exceptional talent to push this tune in a different direction and create something that stands out. And Lemon 8 is a man with the ability for such a task.
Kicking off with a nice deep bassline this Lemon 8 remix is quality from start to finish. It’s fairly different to the original, featuring much heavier 4/4 based sounds, a great tribal atmosphere, together with loads of congo style hits and delayed drum beats to get you moving. A great remix by one of the worlds finest.
Side B2 – Nathan Maners Remix
Nathan Maners is responsible for this next and final remix. It is yet another fine production but following two incredible mixes is not an easy task. This mix features a lighter feel and some nice atmospheric sounds and would definitely be useful at the right time and place.
Overall this is obviously one of Release Record’s finest efforts. ‘Braaj’ is definitely something you will be hearing over the next few months (or may already have heard) as it has been issued to a fair portion of the world’s A-Class DJ talent that is currently located throughout America, Canada, Great Britain, etc touring the world.
My advice - go have a listen to this release, soon to be in stores world wide, you will not regret it.
