- Even though they lay it out pretty clearly when you ask them, it's still sometimes hard to figure out the difference between Traum, Trapez, and My Best Friend. One thing's for sure, though: hyper-melodic techno belongs to Traum. (Er, except when you're talking about Patrice Baumel, Jeff Samuel or Daso.)
Whatever the case, it's probable that label boss Riley Reinhold felt like he had another ‘Dinamo’ on his hands. Stefan Busker's first 12 for the label mines the Nathan Fake vibe expertly, pairing up hard-driving tech beats with an unrelenting hook. It's Boards of Canada taken to the warehouse, E'd up, and put on the assembly line for mass consumption.
'I Am With You' is suitably twee in its riff, manufacturing tears for the dancefloor via a double-time twitter midway through. 'Warm Frequencies' takes a bit longer to get going, presumably giving DJs a chance to ease their way from minimalism into the frightening world of, like, melody and stuff. The result, however, is the same: buzzing, enveloping chords take you on a journey to the edge of the night and back.
