Hot Cakes is a brand new label which, for its first release, delivers a remake of a classic remix and also a bootleg of Dizzee Rascal's 'Back Off The Wall'.
The Booty Space remix of 'Outta Space VIP feat Top Cat' was originally released on Hardcore Beats by Deekline and then remade for Cut & Run, turning it into a massive bassline boomer, mashing together elements of booty bass and breakbeat with the original Prodigy sample. It's awe-inspiring to see a whole crowd participate in the "Yo mama, yo daddy, yo sista's a hoe" bit. For the VIP remix, the lyrical talents of ragga MC Top Cat have been used to enhance the original vocal line whilst keeping the wicked Booty Space vibe intact.
The original version of Dizzee Racal's 'Back Off The Wall' was originally written around breakbeat tempo so it slotted well into a breaks set. Now, however, someone has taken the initiative to give it a breaks retouch. The tune starts off with a slow, bubbling intro repeating the opening lines to the chorus, then someone "fucks with the groove" and drops a highly infectious bassline and rhythm, keeping the vocals and highly abstract scratch pattern intact.
