Lojo - Blue Devil

  • Omnis recordings follow up Loway's "Killer" with the first instalment of the the year, this time round from San Franciscan duo Jonathan Ojeda and Scott Galloway under their Lojo guise. Both individual artists have amassed respectable credentials having been a constant force on the scene for some time and together they lay down another genre melding track entitled Blue Devil. The Original mix grabs our attention from the very beginning with deep, pensive pads swirling brewing underneath as energetic percussive patterns pick up the pace in a techy roll.Gradually elements hit into place and mimic each other, gathering steam while effected synth stabs creep into play distracting us from the uplifting melody oozing through. The break strips things away with an effected vocal sample along with some broken beat action before lifting up the groove once more with all the elements back in place. On remix watch is Omnis top brass Christian Boshell with a uGeNICs remix. The Irishman grabs the original by the short and curlies and spews out a chilling retake, cranking up the temperature to peaktime pleasure utilising driving bassline and beats together with a wash of melodic phrases. At every turn the mood seems to drift up a level, stimulating the senses even further with a truly uplifting prog number of epic proportions. Theres also a uGeNICs dub which keeps on the dark side of things, striping out the melodies and replacing them with eerie soft synths. A tight package from Omnis who never fail to have something excitable up their sleeve
