- As Fort Romeau, Berlin-based producer and DJ Michael Greene crafts lush, sometimes ambient-leaning house and techno. Over the course of roughly a decade, he's honed an atmospheric sound that has lent itself well to releases on labels like 100% Silk and Ghostly. Greene's new single, "Be With U," arrives via his own new(ish) imprint, Romantic Gestures. In an Instagram post announcing the track, Greene cites Wong Kar-Wai as a major source of inspiration. "Be With U" indeed strikes the same bittersweet tone as films like Chungking Express or In The Mood For Love. It opens with frosty synths that wouldn't sound out of place on Radiohead's Kid A, until a crisp drum machine kicks in and pushes things into clubbier terrain. Over the course of the nine minutes that follow, horns and the titular vocal sample ride a four-on-the-floor groove that fluctuates in intensity. From start to finish, "Be With U" is a vibey, romantic banger that captures the energy of the dance floor as a place of sanctuary.
