  • "Rumble" was one of the most sought-after moments from the most-watched Boiler Room of last year, when Fred again.. turned the place inside out with his pleasant pop edits and finger-drumming routine. But this collaboration with Skrillex and veteran grime MC Flowdan—the first single from the former's upcoming new album—was something else entirely, a club track engineered for pushing everyone at the club's lizard brain button. Just clock that first bit of repetition ("killers in the jungle") before the first drop careens into trap-dubstep mayhem. The gun cocks and breakbeat profusion on the second drop only seal the deal, embedding these two-and-a-half minutes with two-and-a-half tonnes of weight. And Flowdan? He sounds magnificent as usual, suave, nervous and domineering all at once. It's remarkable that the MC has been making wobbly bass sound absolutely badass for almost 20 years, and with "Rumble," he's at the top of his game—the entire game, in fact—once again. This is an anthem, but it wouldn't be the same without him. Skrillex and Fred again.. just provide the pitch-perfect background, palpitating rhythms and all.
