- Pangaea has embraced straightforward techno more than any of his Hessle Audio affiliates, which makes every release exciting in a very specific way: where will he take it next? His latest EP is a great example of how to infuse the genre with flair and personality, and one of those 12-inches where the real gold is hidden on the B-side. "Still Flowing Water" splits the difference between early rave and Kevin Saunderson—those vibrating-with-glee chords and trumpeting trance synths—but it's the little things, like the perky handclaps or the '70s disco string swoops, that really complete it. This is industrial-strength techno that isn't afraid to be flamboyant, and all the better for it.
