- PILLZ is a new label run by Anthea and one of the minimal scene's unsung heroes, Velasco, and they inaugurate the debut with newcomer Francesco Carvetta. As you might expect from the label's name, the music on Mind's Power is dark and—surprise!—druggy. You can practically feel the comedown on the title track as veiny synths pop like synthetic surges of serotonin before being sucked into a whirlpool of warped acid lines and eerie chords. But even amidst the impending hangover, Carvetta still knows how to have fun: there's a nearly 30 second breakdown where the after-after party morphs into a cheesy melodrama. In other hands it might be too much, but here it's the perfect final hurrah.
