Coco Bryce - Fashion

  • Menacing but minimalist breakbeat choppage from a standard-bearer of modern jungle.

  • Speaking to DJ Mag about his minimalist production style, Netherlands-born modern jungle stepper Coco Bryce said "Every element has to be necessary." A conga-inspired breakbeat and what sounds like chirping crickets make up the percussive spine on "Fashion," while a serene keyboard riff softens the impact—and that's all there is. The results are surprisingly hypnotic for how barebones it all is, and credit goes to Bryce for going all out with some of his typically intricate drum patterns. They're as playful as they are laser-focused, quick and thoughtful rhythms that move with impeccable style.
