  • Since launching Dote, Neil McDermott, AKA Junes, has used the label to showcase his own take on contemporary tech house and minimal. The word "lithe" springs to mind to describe the bright and soft melodies that skate over his machine-soldered rhythms and bass. The first two tracks on Transport Express use similar templates—the title track is techy and wiggly while the broken drums on "Authority" are best reserved for deep into the afters. "Pools," however, changes tack towards full-on electro. The pinging synth work is still nimble, but there is something lurking beneath the placid surface as he adds in some crunchy 808s and a pulsing bassline.
