  • All Centre's latest recruit, DJ Double Oh!, channels an array of styles on his new EP, Cuerpo y Sol. Translated as "body and sun," the EP crosses over from cumbia and reggaeton to techno, exploring a range of BPMs that keep all five tracks exciting (and make it a great workout EP). From the slow-moving "Cuerpo" to the 140 BPM explosion of "Burst," there are tracks that cool you down and tracks that get you going. So that's the "body" part covered. The "sun" theme runs throughout the EP in different ways—in the low-key swealter of "SUDA" (whose title means "sweats") and in the soca shuffle of "Y Sol." "Afterglow" opens with mellow chords that eventually transition into more pronounced but still gentle melodies, like a pleasantly balmy day. Scorchers like "Burst" have a fiery energy with powerful drums and short vocal snippets, a more hectic arrangement that evokes the sun beating down during a heat wave. Cuerpo y Sol's excitable and enthralling style underlines DJ Double Oh's versatility, moving from seductively swung beats to straight-ahead techno and back again.
