- On ICMIB ("I Can Make It Better," the first single from her upcoming EP Black Sesame), NYC-based songstress Jeannel uses deconstructed R&B to prioritise love and intimacy over sexual objectification. "I can make it better / I can hold you tight," she sings with an ethereal, intricately layered vocal arrangement. In full flight Jeannel sounds like a celestial guide, over swathes of lush instrumentation—some impassioned guitar playing, trickling harps and birdcall synths prove seductive and comforting, even as they swell with intensity.
