Forest Drive West & DB1 - 100m

  • Gritty, ominous techno of the highest order.

  • Describing his workflow when producing techno, Forest Drive West once told RA that it's "more about creating a vibe, leaving it rolling constantly and tweaking stuff." With "100m," a highlight from his new EP Recursion, the enigmatic producer uses murky, atmospheric techno to conjure a state of perpetual tension that sticks to the walls of wherever it's played. Produced alongside regular collaborator DB1, "100m" could soundtrack the espionage sequence of a high-budget action film. Gritty kicks grind against one another while the bassline warbles with a subtly increasing intensity, like some unidentified threat emerging from the oitch black. At eight minutes, it's much longer than 100 meters should take to cover, but no complaints here. This one's a thriller from start to finish.
