Spectateur - Under The Sun

  • Momentous trip-hop that feels like space flight.

  • At its most desolate, "Under The Sun" sounds like what being alone in outer space must feel like. French producer Spectateur uses meshes together ambient music and trip-hop to hone in on the concept of "contemplative solitude" with impressive levels of immersion. Spacey, yearning arpeggios slowly uncoil with a sepulchral moroseness, as the arrangement becomes busier and the percussion more acoustic. By the time it concludes, you're left feeling as if you've just descended from earth's orbit into some empty apartment.
