DD 2 - Infinite

  • The one where Shed goes Detroit.

  • The past couple of years have seen René Pawlowitz zero in on his love of UK dance music, with records ranging from UK funky to dubstep. His latest release, under his new alias DD 2, is a reminder that he's a Berlin boy through-and-through—nothing but techno, albeit with a Detroit twist. The song starts with an anxious synth pulse that Pawlowitz builds on top of, some chunky breaks here, swelling second wave Detroit chords there. It's all a bit reminiscent of Anthony "Shake" Shakir, right down to how Pawlowitz remains focused on the relatively simple looped groove at its heart for its entire nine-minute runtime. This is vintage Detroit minimal techno laid down with Shed finesse.
