- The Parisian label Automatic Writing is a vital node in the new French minimal scene. The label was an early champion of artists like Charonne and Sweely, and helped pioneer the current scene's understated but goofy approach to loopy minimal. For their latest release, they look across the Channel to Manchester's Josh Baker. On "Ravi Supreme," Baker adds his own spin to the sound: the bassline and lead synthline have got a bit of Northern edge to them, but the occasional vocal snippet and squishy synth bleeps keep things bouncing and light. The track is as delicious as English cheddar on your croque monsieur.
