- Markus Sommer makes some of the best minimal and groovy house out there. His forever-on-my-Discogs-Wantlist, Offenbach Heat back in 2016, signaled a changing of the guard—a new generation of Frankfurt-Offenbach producers had arrived. His first 12-inch under his own name in four years arrives back on his beloved Pager Records. After a UK garage destroyer on Dr. Banana last year, Garden Party is a more gentle and subdued affair. From the chintzy Rhodes solo in the title track to the heady, lethargic pads on "aye aye sugar," Sommer is as deep and introspective as we've ever heard him. But there are also enough wonky synth bleeps to give us that am Main flair.
