  • Hard drum could be likened to a sponge in its ability to consistently absorb the most brutal threads of UK club music. Bristol-based producer NKC has been a faithful ambassador for the amorphous genre since its inception in the early '10s, and as time has progressed, his style's primal militancy has hardly abated. But then comes DJ Polo, also from Bristol and equally invested in percussive stunners—but primarily those on the sweet-toothed, housey end of the club spectrum. The pair's yin-and-yang dynamic make them a compelling team, as evidenced by their recent show together on SWU FM, and now their new EP, Yeyeyeye. On the record's title track, drums and exasperated, breathy vocals descend in clipped patterns. Taking notes from gqom, grime and trance, this barreling club track is like a dazzling laser light show.
