Picpoul - The Feeling

  • There's something about the right breakbeat at the right time. On "The Feeling" by Picpoul, the central break lands against a pillowy backdrop of wah wah-style synths. Just when you think it couldn't get more cushiony, a deep, squishy bassline comes in, both pushing the track forward and acting as a landing pad for those breaks. From the slippery vocoder vocals to the well-timed piano that kicks it all up a notch, it's euphoria layered on top of euphoria in the tasteful tradition of Four Tet or Caribou, but with its own flavour: joyous but restrained, like savoring the little moments that make life good.
