Authentically Plastic & Nsasi – Galiba

  • A high-velocity display of techno and gqom that combines the best of both styles.

  • The new EP from Kampala queer collective ANTI-MASS is a scorcher. The opening track sees residents Nsasi and Authentically Plastic pair gqom's sinister synth lines against polyrhythmic drums and urging vocals, creating mystery and disorientation. It's a shining example of gqom's versatility. Speaking to Borshch Magazine this year, ANTI-MASS cofounder Authentically Plastic noted how the genre's "industrial potentials" are "waiting to be actualised," adding that "all those gqom tendencies in industrial and noise" are often unseen. "Galiba" gives us a high-definition picture of how powerful these sounds are when intertwined, paving the way for more cross-breeding ahead.
