Francesca - Doxa

  • Dub techno at its most skeletal.

  • Pleasure Club has quickly become a label to watch as purveyors of the type of dark techno and electro that DJs like Nicolas Lutz and Binh have revitalized. We saw this brand of breaky and acid-flecked techno on Francesca's production debut last year. Her second release, however, shifts tones into ambient and dub. The best of the bunch is "Doxa," which feels like the picked-over-carcass of a dub techno track: hallowed chords decay while snares move in and out of time over aqueous hits of sub every four bars. And while certainly barebones, it's an intriguing new direction for both Francesca and Pleasure Club.
