- Deep Sleep Robot is a new New York record label dedicated to releasing overlooked or unreleased dance music from 1990 through 2004. For their first release they zero in on the UK's late '90s tech house explosion with three tracks from Swag affiliate Len Lewis (who is responsible for some truly wonderful music). True to form, you could easily fool someone that a track like "Illicus" was made today and released on a label like Kalahari Oyster Cult. It starts out like electro then pivots to tech house, its twitchy drums only stopping for a dreamy breakdown, followed by more electro and then an ultra-satisfying second drop into that chunky tech house beat. If this is what they're working with, then Deep Sleep Robot already seems like an essential label to watch.
