- Daniel 58 runs the Toronto label Parallel Minds alongside partner-in-crime Yohei S and hometown hero Ciel. Outside of the muscular bass tracks he turned in for the label's last release, he's also been releasing a steady trickle of music on Bandcamp. The Surge Protektor EP is his best yet. The crown jewel here is "Las Acacias, El Quisc," which starts with taut and angular synth tension that references UK techno. The upswing of the drums and vocal sample have hints of reggaeton, making for an exciting hybrid—a bit like Objekt in his "Cactus" days collaborating with DJ Python.
