Zopelar - Orange Sunlight

  • A sunlit ode to '70s Brazillian funk.

  • The artwork for one of Zopelar's recent singles shows him holding a synth keyboard with a thick moustache and bucket hat, his image superimposed over a stock image of some clouds. There's almost no better way to visualize his sound. With its retro stutter and slide, "Orange Sunlight" sees Zopelar take vintage drum machine sounds and fuse them with modern synth arrangements, creating a worthy ode to '70s Brazillian funk. It's synthetic but undeniably comforting, almost like those SAD lamps that people in cold, dark countries use to soak up some daylight in the winter. In a summer of grey skies and flooding (at least here in the UK), "Orange Sunlight" is a much needed supplement of sun.
