- The title track from Oscar Mulero's new EP initially sounds like an alarm going off in a space station—all discordant synths and pounding drums—the kind of techno that might trigger, or at least tingle, your fight-or-flight response. But something wonderful happens just after two minutes in: the rhythm section sheds those heavy sounds like it's soaring above the clouds, just pure rhythmic propulsion. By the time the synths come back in, Mulero smudges them with delay, adding a trippy vibe to a track that could have just been a mindless banger. At only five minutes, it's still quite a journey.
