- Yaoundé-based Nkom Bivoué is a rising artist in Cameroon whose heady blend of staggered drums, call-and-response lyrics and bouncy Afro house easily unites dance floors. The title track off his debut album (which translates to "the road to material and spiritual ascension") is a mid-tempo jam on the more minimal side of Afro house, but heavy percussion and rallying vocals—tell-tale characteristics of Afrobeats—keep energy levels high. There are elements of UK funky and gqom in here, too, making this an example of the hybrid sound that the region is becoming so well known for.
