LUZ1E - Dreamscape

  • Electro ice sculptures carved with beauty and menace.

  • The music the Frankfurt-based producer LUZ1E makes has historically channeled the punchier, hyperactive side of electro, the sort of baptism-by-fire tracks that DJ Stingray and Helena Hauff like to play. But, like the best Detroit-referencing electro, Luz1e knows when to dial it back to let us catch our breath. The lead song, "Dreamscapes," from her forthcoming EP on Source Material, Polymorph, does a particularly good job of bringing light into the dark recesses of electro's robotic assembly line. Here we get 808s that are as frosty as ever, but the melody makes delicate snow angels over the rhythms.
