Tyu - Kongaloka

  • A psychotropic house chugger.

  • Combining folk elements with deep grooves in the same vein as Chilean trio Matanza or the ZZK Records label, Tyu's colourful contribution to Multi Culti's new compilation is a heady display of swirling rhythms. Tribal drums, woodwind whispers and high-pitched synths imbue the record with a dizzying feel but just when the light-headedness kicks in, a frolicking bassline helps bring your feet back to the ground. While it could benefit from less loops and more dissonant harmonies, "Kongaloka" lives up to the Multi Cult spirit of culturally-mixed house jams.
