Sohrab popped up on most people's radars after the release of a quick-to-sell-out 12-inch on Marginal Returns in 2019, which married modern tech house with sinister electro. He has now turned in the standout on a forthcoming compilation EP on Bruno Schmidt's Domesticated label. "Mnemonic" is all about the loop—reverb-y pads, an ascending bass line and chunky claps lock you into a groove that could go on forever. But slowly the song builds to a crescendo with some key work that adds some sunshine-on-marble sparkle to round the whole thing off.
