  • Sophia Saze's new track, taken from Tresor's massive 30th anniversary compilation due out this fall, feels like a survey of the German label's unique trajectory. It begins with squiggly synths, an approximation of Tresor's early flirtations with the trifecta of Detroit techno, early Berlin techno and trance that would define their '90s output. But when the beat drops, it's not quite doof-doof-doof—instead, it's a broken, irresistibly slinky rhythm somewhere closer to drum & bass. This lithe, effortless fusion not only underlines Tresor's ongoing urge to experiment, but the talent of Saze, one of the New York scene's most intriguing producers.
