  • Having trouble getting into banging dance floor tracks during lockdown, but unwilling to drop out of life, ambient record in hand? Body San is here for you. The Portland producer has a lovely new tape on the way via Providence label Noumenal Loom that splits the difference between expansive New Age and lo-fi house better than most. The first track, "No Drip," has a low-slung rhythm anchored by a bassline that will appeal to fans of Nu Groove or 100% Silk (who have put a handful of Body San records). A Pure Moods-style angelic vocal enters before it's cleverly transformed into a pad, leading up to a beatless breakdown that threatens to drift off into azure skies. Then the beat drops again, bringing you back to earth.
