PJ Davy - Bollyfella

  • Renaissance unleash the talents of PJ Davy for their final release in 2005, and he in turns unleashes a very solid release in Bollyfella. The Tip Top Disco Mix is first up and I must say that this is a very impressive production. It builds delightfully with some very strong crisp drum patterns that leads into a very tasty and strong bassline that gives the production a mean and intense outlook. The track also uses a quite funky hook that gives the track a good driving yet funky bite, and the end result is an absolutely devastating club track. The Original Mix takes on a slightly more techy sound, one we can associate more with PJ Davy. There is a pretty smooth acid based bassline running throughout the track as well as the main riff, and the flow is just as intense and purposeful as the Tip Top mix. Also included in the release are a host of DJ tools that make use of the main riff as well as some of the drum patterns. Overall this is quite a solid release, with perhaps the Tip Top mix of Bollyfella being the highlight.
