  • Stryker excels at high drama club music. His debut EP, Regen, brings his best gifts—gliding melodies and springy rhythms, inspired by hip-hop and Latin music—to the surface. The record's title track might be most representative of this style. Here, a gorgeous melody is plucked throughout, paired with steely 808s and walloping hard drum percussion. "Big Like A Mountain" recalls the frozen-over reggaeton of DJ Florentino, characterized by tough drums, angelic pads and sirens that shoot out like laser gun blasts. The climactic "Prueba" is reggaeton that could soundtrack a fateful mission, marked by what sounds like twinkling mallets and cinematic, suspense-building pads. Closing out, Kelman Duran's version of the track drops the sentimental fluff for something more serrated. The last minute or so is where things get truly exciting: shouting vocals are spit out from all angles, and a marching bass quickens its pace like a developing heart palpitation.
