  • On ARIE, Anja Ngozi, of the London-based label Síbín, drops two edits of American R&B artist India Arie's less-diva-more-human croonings. "Little Things" sees Ngozi take ethereal slices from Arie's neo-soul classic of the same name and lay them on a bed of arrhythmic percussion and eerie synths. The South London songstress takes shades of darkness and blends them with the original's healing aura. The second track, "Flutter," takes flight as Ngozi dissects "The Truth," another Arie classic. Between the stuttering loops, pitched-down samples and sporadic chords, it all sounds like fragments of a dream assembling itself in an early morning memory. The percussion scuttles along with a lo-fi sheen into something that wouldn't feel out of place on Frank Ocean's Endless. Both are intoxicating reinterpretations.
