"Aged" is the final track track in a two-part series of records called Vapors Of Utopia, exploring lush sounds from Uruguayan producer Z@P's vaults. It seems as if he's saved the best for last: while "Aged" has the knotty groove and easy swing of all his best tracks, there's something new afoot here. The track is based on a rhythm that feels like melancholy freestyle, all drum machine rimshots and hollowed synths. The chief attraction is the bassline, which zig-zags every which way like the old cellphone game Snake, its playful melody burrowing deeper and deeper into your head as it plays out.
