- James Bangura is one of the DC music scene's most promising newcomers. Last year he was hard at work: he put out his debut EP, R.Y.S.S., contributed tracks to Towhead Recordings and Haus Of Altr's all-star compilation series, and put out a 12-inch on Mister Saturday Night. The lead track off his first 2021 record, "Cleanse" sits blissfully in the middle of deep house and jungle and shows how Bangura can forge grooves using gentler elements. Mellow chords settle like dew while reverbed vocals glide across the track, but what holds it all together is an amen break that sounds more delicate than a paper house.
