Various Artists - Most Rated: Miami

  • One of the UK's biggest house label's Defected Records is jumping onto the Miami bandwagon and have come up with their own compilation of the most rated tunes... aptly titled, Most Rated Miami. Bah Samba set the tone with Portuguese Love which incorporates latin percussion and classic house elements of a melodic disco bassline, orchestral string arrangements and diva vocals. UK electronic big band Faze Action rework their Kariba 2005 for 2005 - african vocals with a very catchy guitar lick, horn arrangements and infectious bongo beat - sure fire for any beach party on a warm summer night and should be one tune to catch when the group play live. Rasmus Faber takes things back to 80s style cabaret disco music with Get Over Here kicking it off with a big horn intro before settling into a funky disco groove - you'd swear he wrote this for a celebrity extravaganza TV special. King Kooba turns out a jazzy disco number laden with sax on San Salvador and a subtle disco beat while Roland Clark gives you the low down onan acappella of Black Music. The second CD features more of the same disco house flavours and atin grooves including some very big numbers such as Blaze feat Barbara Tucker's Most precious Love with that highly memorable piano riff and "ba ba boom" vocal sample. There's also a drum-oriented tune with Louis Benedetti's Seven Minutes Of Drums which is helped out with an acappella of Kings Of Tomorrow's So Alive. Most Rated Miami may be a collection of biggest tunes to hit Miami in 2005, it also has a distinct theme throughout - latin flavours and percussive grooves are prominent through the entirety of the mix, and if you ask me it's hard to escape their wily calls.
