Weapons Of Mass Creation 2

  • As the name suggests this is the follow-up for the first Weapons of Mass Creation. Released by the acclaimed Hospital Records, the double cd plus extra DVD deliver a fresh selection of current drum & bass slammer. Get ready for the likes of Logistics, Total Science, Cyantific, Concord Dawn and many other. The first CD is unmixed, the second one includes some 3 extra tracks and is mixed by Logistics. There’s also a DVD in the box. You can check out video profiles of some of the producers on this CD. The first CD kicks off with Logistics "The Trip", more or less the general style of Hospital. Keeping it a bit melodic, solid beats and nothing too rough. Then, Syncoptix brings in the jumping and memorable bassline in "8bit Blues". Skipping some of the tracks, Cyantific & Tactile brings some more rugged notes in with "Without Sound". Logistics takes the most out of Weapons of Mass Creation 2. Besides mixing the second CD, he also has four tracks here. "Inside My Soul" is remixed by Friction and Nu Balance. The subbassline and vocal samples set the depth and mood for the tune while some harder noiselines make the impact on the dancefloor. The mix is nice and solid. Nothing too much but OK. Some of the extra tracks and reasonably tight mixing make it a nice CD to have in a car for example. As told, the DVD has some nice features especially if you want to learn more about the music and people behind it. This actually makes the Weapons of Mass Creation 2 worth the buck. Otherwise, it would be just another mix-cd filled with tracks you can hear at any drum & bass party.
