Gabriel & Dresden - Portobello / Serendipity

  • This is the next release from Gabriel & Dresden's label Organized Nature which made a massive impact with the first outing "Arcadia" and saw Ozgur Can turn out a block-rockin' re-hash that recieved glowing praise worldwide. G & D take matters into their own hands for this outing and lay down two strong tracks . Portabello takes the trancy angle but doesn't quite go for it ,building steadily with a peaky mix of warbling bassline and pulsating strings that glide together before things shoot right up with a full on hands in the air build-up .The melody takes full control as muted techy beats take back seat and long sweeps, subtle drum rolls give it that little extra punch . Its not the usual G&D sound but goes in the direction of exploring something a little bit inventive with a techy angle. For Serendipity we hear a sound that were used to as the pair knock out a classic G&D floormover with deep pulsating synths pushing up through a melody that creeps up on us . Things break momentarily and all the elements layer back on top of the airy growling synth and breaks once more to a deep emotive mood that rewards our senses A very respectable follow-up to 001 and shows G&D advancing their sound with some diversity.
