- Returning to his darker skin, Luke Chable gives Kasey Taylor and Chris Meehan's Vapour label two new pieces of work in Air and String Theory under the Quest handle.
Air is nothing what its title suggest, something floaty, beautiful, and calm, but then again, you could always go to the music band Air for that. Instead, your ears witness the soaring waves of synths and clashing high hats. Breaking early is a funky bongo-like drum pattern that quickly dissipates underneath. Bouncy all the way through like a jungle fever, the track keeps your body moving, not allowing it to stop, not allowing it to stumble too far off as a dissected flute (it seems) cuts itself apart. You’ll even recall some influence of his remix for Powerplant’s “Blame” and Steve May’s “Blend Fourty-3” just a while ago. Uplifting while staying purely electronic.
The opposite offers String Theory and for some reason I still think it’s going to be lovely dovey stuff. Why? I don’t know, maybe it’s because I like classical music, or maybe it’s because I just watched “Amadeus” for the 4th time, I don’t know. Well, this is quite simply a variation of “Air,” but it’s not too shabby, in fact, I think you’ll enjoy playing this more than “Air.” Simply because the breakdown is more siren, but other than that, it’s mayhem. Big beats with howling chimes that just sounds too good not to play out. Word of advice, listen to this while playing Castlevania.
There’s a lot to like about Chable and this is the physical proof of one of them.
