DJ Quest - Wormhole with DJ Odissi/Get Nasty/Reaktor

  • DJ Quest returns to Hardcore Beats with a triple tune release after the success of his previous release - the Breakbeat Connection anthem "Blackhole" b/w "Swordpen" which he co-produced with ED209. For his latest release he joins forces with Florida based producer, DJ Odissi who has also released tunes on Quest's Cyberfunk label. Side A. Wormhole with DJ Odissi Starting off with a half tempo break, Wormhole fits right in with Hardcore Beats' music policy - dark, mirky tones and eerie choir samples play during the intro before the beats move into breakbeat tempo and a growling bassline takes over. Similar to Dooms Night but on a much darker vibe. To accompany this bassline is a squelchy electro hook and crisp, rocky drum breaks which tend to break down to half tempo speed ad nausea. Side AA1. Reaktor Reaktor sends you to the heart of the breakbeat jungle as it kicks off with a tribal percussion intro. A couple of old movie vocal samples play and then its straight up Cyberfunk style Quest production - technoid basslines fade in and out on top of rolling breaks. Reaktor has a lot of action going on as it drops siren noises, hoover build ups, drum fills and a synth hook. Side AA2. Get Nasty Get Nasty features a highly energetic hook and a female vocal sample lifted off a porno movie. The bassline gets a little dirtier than the first two tunes and this time Quest utilises a different pattern on his breakbeat.
