Dublex Inc. - Eight Ears

  • Mutual interests threw together DJ's Robin Hofmann, Florian Pfluger, Rino Spadavecchia and Felix Stecher, making up Dublex Inc. Their Latest release Eight Ears is from self run label Pulver Records. Getting together in "2000" to host Blowshop Thursday's night at Germany's Le Fonque, blending hip hop and sampled breaks, they discoved they had similar thoughts in producing and with their own ideas combined they soon created Dublex Inc.. The first release from the DJ Quartet was the Collage EP, which included the club tune Izquitos. Dublex Inc. was soon to prove that they had enough experience and talent under their belt to move ahead and establish their own label Pulver Records for their third release. Tango Forte debut at No.1 on the German Club Charts, staying at number 1 for 6 weeks. Dramatically opening the CD is Introduction with a sharp WaWa guitar accompanied by a deep back beat sounding like it's come straight out from a suspenseful Hitchcock thriller. She'll Stay drops in some light synth effect accompanied by Wayne Martin and his soulful voice, reminiscent of Quantics soul vocals blended seamlessly with the new filtered effects. The main feature throughout this album is the bass guitar that exentuates the funky feel and tight, subtle drumming. Latin influenced Nifty Night starts off subtle morphing into a bouncy deep tune with nice little deck cuts, layering in nice sampled material almost sounding western in some respects. Retaining the vibe Alice russell whom recently featured on Quantic's - Mishaps Happening breaks out her smooth yet powerful vocals on Don't make me want you and also features on Slack Society. Towards the end of the CD the group sticks out their neck with some quirky material such as Queeek with lush double bass, solid string work building up samples towards the end and bringing in the kit to finish off, a nice tune that gains independence from the many down beat experimentalists going around at present, a great addition. These four guys from Stuttgart, DJ in clubs all over the world, fine tuning the Dublex Inc. sound, resulting in more remixes and closely followed by international recognition. In order to know what works on the dance floor the four DJ's are still touring clubs almost every week end. A quirky Quantic leaning on the bass riffs, looking forward to the next release.
