  • Part two of Unkle’s Reign sees mixes from Anagram and by False Prophet. Out of the initial 2 12” release of Reign, the Anagram Mix is by far the coolest. Ticking guitar licks looping insanely while a mad drum beat marches the parade. It’s a bit hypercritical that I don’t criticize Anagram’s mix like I do with Evil 9’s as both mixes use the same blue print, but as you listen to Anagram’s mix, you become involve with the guitar strings building and growing for that apex that you know is coming. Those guitar licks repeating, looping, and reliving every moment never feels stale at all. As you get halfway through the track, the drums begin to hit a hard place and the chambers start to show its presence. However, that culmination that you thought was coming never materializes and the track just fades away. Still a quality mix, but it’s not something that you’d expect to be played at a nightclub, but more at an indie rock gathering instead. Another breakbeat mix, but this time its False Prophet’s turn to do the deed. Going with a strong percussion to compliment the breakbeat, the grooves become quite bouncy so you can get jiggy with it. As a glimpse of the break ensures, those strings gets warped out that dissolves the frequencies into liquid waves. Embracing that big-room sound that’s still quit and clam, the False Prophet mix is a good track for the club or headphone. Both releases are different enough to warrant a purchase as each 12” has one remix that’s worth checking out and with a special US edition just being release, let’s hope this doesn’t over saturate the market with one too many remixes for “Reign.
