  • Kevin Yost's work is best described as deep, jazzy house of the finest order. I would have to agree. Kevin is both a proficient keyboardist, percussionist, producer and DJ. He began experimenting with different flavours of acid jazz, electronica and house music in the early 90's. His music epitomises the strength and development of house music and subtlety of mellow funk. Within his busy schedule remixing for the likes of Eric Clapton and Everything But The Girl, Kevin still finds time to perform at infamous events and festivals. "KY Funk 'N Stuff" opens with soft bongos, mellow beats and infectious sampling of loop vocals. "Spring Again" combines deep jazz bass, middle paced dance beats and seemless synthesisers. Classic flute loops lift the track to a new level before the funky electronic piano blend "Spring Again" into a cocktail of first class elements. Breakbeat and jazz intertwine in "Hip On You". Soft xylophone melodies lift above the breakbeat and jazz before gospel pianos fill in the middle section of the musical arrangement of colours. "Set Me Free" introduces strong saxophone arrangements to a soft backing track that frames the patterns of the saxophone, giving it room to fly and fall. The acoustic guitar flows emphatically with the medium strength of percussive beats on "Who Are You" before Anita Weiss' beautiful and poetic lyrics. "Fresh Air" completes this thoroughly enjoyable twelve track, conceptual CD from Kevin Yost. Smooth piano ambience soars over progressive percussion, blending ambience with smooth house. Keep an eye out for Kevin Yost as he tours around the world in 2002.
