Dirty Fours - Breathless / Machines

  • Dirty Fours are up next on the Aussie based EQ Grey label and they unleash two brand spanking new productions for our aural pleasure. Breathless sees itself on the a-side and for the most part it is quite solid, building with some solid drum work and subtle melodic patterns. The track really takes off midway in with a nice melodic line alongside some deep baselines that work well under the beats. The breakdown then follows, not really introducing much into the track, but it then comes back to form with the solid beats that proceeded the breakdown. Machines on the flip is for me a little too bland for the first half, relying on some solid beats and not much else. The track become a little nicer in the second half when a lot more atmosphere is introduced giving it a lot more depth, depth that it really needed. Not a bad release here, and some pretty solid progressive sounds from the EQ imprint.
