- Four Tet and Madlib go back a while. Their latest partnership—an LP produced by Madlib and arranged by Four Tet—feels natural. With its snatches of private voicemail messages giving way to a restrained boom-bap beat, "Hopprock" sounds lived-in. You can hear Four Tet's touch in the delicate musicality (as well as the bass guitar that throbs between each kick drum), but the beat is vintage Madlib: soulful, smouldering and unassuming until it worms its way into your consciousness.
