I'd be lying if I said the effects had worn thin. The surprise factor is the beat, which purrs and then barrels in at 170 BPM—Four Tet's first stab at drum & bass. It's a smart effort, nothing fancy, one foot kept firmly in the comfort zone. The racy rhythm gels nicely with his classic sound kit: twinkly melody, eerie pads, spectral moans. No doubt it'll make a rousing coda at his next string of live shows.
