  • Named after the two hecklers in the classic Muppets show, Statler & Waldorf are a new electronic trio hailing from Brisbane consisting of members 86, Luminary and Camschwa. Much like other Australian artists such as Wicked Beat Sound System, the S&W sound can be described a melting pot of sounds and beats as the group fuse together elements of hip hop, reggae, electro, breakbeat and folk music and this can all be sampled on their debut EP, Collusions. Already recieving high rotation on Triple J radio, Bass Buffer features the vocals of Brisbanite Blue MC as she lets her sultry voice loose on the mic in a ragga stylee accompanied by a jazzy piano riff and dancehall beats. More dancehall vibes follow with S&W's cover of Paul Kelly's So Fine where they keep Paul Kelly's original vocal and guitar riff while they spice up the beats with reggae percussion and deep droning bass. The EP moves into hip hop infused breakbeats with City featuring a growling bassline, bubbly beats, deft hip hop style scratches and the vocal stylings of Miss Brown. Miss Brown returns with the help of Sanyasa for the drum & bass outing of Byrne before the EP finishes off with the instrumental cut Andronovavirus dropping a rave like synth bassline, bubbly electro hook and cinematic synth sweeps.
