  • Manchester party and label Swing Ting is synonymous with soundsystem-loyal savants who cleverly blend dancehall, garage, grime and more at their monthly night at Soup Kitchen (pre-pandemic of course) and in a string of multifaceted releases. Earlier this year cofounders Samrai & Platt released their first ever LP, 100 Dances, a celebration of more than a decade of running parties and a much-needed comforter in a year in which the concept of partying has been drastically reimagined. A Reworked edition followed, with the likes of Ikonika, KG and Sam Binga enlisted for some masterful edits that inject five of the original debut's ten tracks with colourful, summery vibes. KG's take on "Drama" is the EP's stand-out track, featuring beautifully fragmented vocals by London-based Thai-Chi Rosé and a lighthearted, dance-inspired composition. Reflecting Swing Ting's ethos of creating sound wares that are bubbly, lively and soundsystem-ready, the track fits in under three minutes both bouncy UK funky vibes, garage-inspired vocal samples and sweet '90s guitar picks.
